TYPE: STSP | PACE: Gentle/Conversational | TERRAIN: Dirt trail, paved multi-use path | DISTANCE: Approximately 2.5 miles |

Walk Description: Take off your Fitbit, leave your phone on your desk and walk away from technology for a 45-minute breather at the end of the work week. Join us for a gentle stroll alongside beautiful Boulder Creek twice each month and take time to breathe deeply, listen fully and let nature soothe your senses. We’ll spend part of each walk in silence, connecting with nature, and part in conversation, connecting with each other.

One inspiration for this walk was this poem, posted on RTD buses in Boulder as part of the Poetry To Go project, a poetry contest for teens:

“Go Outside”

View the kaleidoscope sky.

Put down your device

and open your eyes.

Take a walk

until time stops on your clock

and live your life, soaring like a hawk.

–Hayden Velds, Summit Middle Charter School

Schedule, Transit and Planning: You can access the Bobolink Trailhead by bus route 225, by bike or by car. There is a small parking lot at the trailhead. We will meet right where the path begins at the southwest corner of the parking lot. We will begin walking at 4:05 pm and will return to the parking lot by 4:45 pm.

Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is a professional member-owner of the Walk2Connect Co-op and the Walk2Connect Boulder program manager.

Trip Notes:

~ Well-socialized and well-behaved dogs are welcome on this walk, but please be mindful of our intention to cultivate silence during part of our walk.

~ Dress comfortably for the weather, bring sun protection and water, and anything else you need to stay comfortable outside.

~ There is no restroom at this trailhead, but we will walk past the East Boulder Recreation Center, where restrooms are available, if needed.

Cancellation Policy: This event will take place regardless of the weather, unless there is a major snowstorm, excessive ice or other dangerous weather. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.

Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience in 2017.

RSVP: You can register for this walk by A) signing up on the Boulder Ramblers Meetup, or B) emailing or calling Darcy at darcy@walk2connect.com or 303-250-2436.

About Boulder Ramblers:

The Colorado-based Walk2Connect Cooperative works with individuals and organizations to create innovative walking programs focused on connecting to others, to place and to self. Our Boulder community, Boulder Ramblers, offers a variety of local walks and hikes led by trained volunteer Walking Movement Leaders in Boulder, Longmont and Louisville. We also partner with GO Boulder to develop walking events that orient community members to the city’s pedestrian facilities and invite feedback about them. All over Colorado, W2C principals and trained volunteer Walking Movement Leaders lead dozens of free community walks every week.
