Walk Descriptions: Join our Walk2Connect Boulder community, the Boulder Ramblers, and Walking Movement Leader Darcy Kitching every Thursday morning at 9 am for fun, fitness-paced walks in Boulder’s beautiful neighborhoods. Sharing time with others is a wonderful start to the day, and we always have a great time! We will follow a regular, rotating schedule for the first three Thursdays of each month:
First Thursday: Meet at Caffe Sole in South Boulder’s Table Mesa Shopping Center for a 4.7-mile loop walk up the hill to the top of Shanahan Ridge and back. This route is stroller-friendly, barring any snow on the sidewalks.
Second Thursday: Meet outside of the South Boulder Recreation Center for a 4-mile loop walk through Tantra Park and around the beautiful CU South Campus land. This walk is great for dogs – they can run off-leash on the CU South Campus loop and enjoy the pond there. Most of this walk is on a wide dirt road/trail, which can be muddy.
Third Thursday: Meet at 22nd and King Streets in Boulder, next to the iron gate on the north side of the NIST campus, for a 4-mile loop hike up to the Kohler Mesa Trail, onto Enchanted Mesa, down through Bluebell Canyon, and back. This hike includes rocky, uneven terrain and a steady incline at the start.
Remaining Thursday(s): For the fourth and, occasionally, fifth, Thursdays, Darcy will add a new walk/hike option in a different part of Boulder, so check the Boulder Ramblers Meetup page to see where we’ll explore at the end of each month!
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching is a professional member-owner of the Walk2Connect Cooperative and the Walk2Connect Boulder program manager. A native of Colorado, she has lived in Boulder for 5 years. She enjoys exploring the city and its surrounding open space with her family and friends. Walk with Darcy on Thursday mornings and during periodic Boulder Walks events, organized in cooperation with the City of Boulder’s GO Boulder program.
Scheduling: Our Thursday morning walks all begin at 9 am (unless otherwise noted on Boulder Ramblers) and end by 11 am. They are often transit-accessible – the SKIP bus route services downtown to South Boulder, and is a great option for getting to our STSP walks on the first three Thursdays of each month. We begin walking at 9:05, so please arrive on time!
~ Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, sun protection and wear appropriate gear/clothing for the season.
~ Well-behaved and well-socialized dogs on 6′ or shorter leashes are welcome (unless otherwise noted).
~ Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightening. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
