Hike the Skyline Traverse: 5 Peaks on October 5! (Boulder)

TYPE: Hike | PACE: Fitness | TERRAIN: Dirt trails, steep hills, mountain peaks | DISTANCE: Approximately 17 miles | ELEVATION GAIN: 6,100′

DESCRIPTION: Come hike the Skyline Traverse with Darcy! On this 17-mile, five-peak hike we’ll summit South Boulder Peak, Bear Peak, Green Mountain, Flagstaff Mountain, and Mount Sanitas. For a partial map and complete description of the typical route for this hike, please follow this link:

** Please note that we will start on Lehigh at the Shanahan Ridge connector trail because the South Mesa Trailhead is closed. We will follow the Shanahan Ridge trails to the Mesa Trail, then go up Shadow Canyon to South Boulder Peak. **

After the hike, join in for a dinner celebration at The Hungry Toad!

SCHEDULE AND PLANNING: We begin at the Shanahan Ridge Connector Trail at Lehigh and Lafayette at 7 am and end at the foot of the Goat Trail, at 3rd Street and Forest Avenue in North Boulder, around 5 or 6 pm. Please plan carpool arrangements, if needed, as the hike approaches.

~ This is a very strenuous, difficult hike. Please train diligently before the event, and consult with Darcy about any concerns you might have going into it.

~ If you only want to hike part of the way, please let Darcy know your plans. We are hiking south to north, with Mt. Sanitas as our final challenge. We welcome hikers to join us on that final mountain and at the celebration afterward!

~ Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, sun protection, and rain protection, and wear appropriate gear/clothing for the season. Contact Darcy for gear suggestions, if desired.
