Join us for the 2018 Connection Challenge!
An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Thursday, repeating indefinitely
TYPE: STSP Weekly | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Flat, Dirt Trail | DISTANCE: Approx 3 miles |
Walk Description: Join us for an after work walk that will take us through a very unique Open Space that is managed jointly by Broomfield and Westminster, along neighbourhood sidewalks, and part of the Big Dry Creek Trail.
Bring your camera, as we may get to see a variety of wildlife – including hawks, herons, and other waterfowl at the Metzger Farm ponds and in the open space meadows and along the (not actually dry) creek. We see some beautiful sunsets in this area!
Walking Movement Leader: My name is Lisa Pordon. I am originally from the west coast of Canada, and currently spend most of my time home schooling my 13 year old son. He will be joining me for most walks! I have been car-free for about 18 years, and love walking long distances, and exploring via foot and public transit. My phone number is 720-935-8968 – you are welcome to contact me! My email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Schedule, Planning, and Nearby Transit: We will meet at the Metzger Farm Open Space parking lot at 120th and Lowell – the parking lot is on the east side of Lowell. The 120 bus does stop here, if you are taking public transportation. There is ample parking available. We’ll begin with introductions, then do a loop that is approximately 3 miles.
-Kids are welcome – keeping in mind that we will be covering about 3 miles. We will be on a gravel surface – it is well maintained, and should be fine for strollers.
-Friendly well behaved leashed dogs are welcome.
-There are restrooms (porta-potties) at the parking lot where we will be meeting, but not along the route.
-We will walk rain or shine! Contact Lisa (info below) with any questions prior to the walk.
-Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightening. Check Meetup or text the walk leader for the most up-to-date conditions.
Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign, and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience in 2017.
RSVP: You register for this walk by A) RSVPing here, or B) Emailing or calling Lisa (info above).
