Connecting the Canal
A 71-Mile Walking Adventure on the High Line Canal! Winter 2016-7 Edition

At 71 miles long, the High Line Canal is one of the longest continuous urban trails in the country, twisting through the most populated area of Colorado while crossing a diverse mosaic of communities and nature. The Canal originates at Waterton Canyon in Douglas County and runs to Green Valley Ranch in Northeast Denver, falling within one mile of more than 350,000 residents. This winter, the High Line Canal takes front and center in a huge effort to raise awareness of this wonderful community resource.

In partnership with the High Line Canal Conservancy, Walk2Connect Walking Movement Leaders will lead 14 community walks (plus one built-in weather day) along the High Line Canal from November to March on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, all starting at 9 am over this time period.

Join us for all segments or just one! Ranging from 5-8 miles, these segments allow you to continuously walk close to 98% of the Canal this winter. We’ll walk at a pleasant 2-3 mph, creating wonderful connection and conversation. All participants who complete segments will receive a water bottle and any walker who completes all 14 segments by the last scheduled segment will receive a branded tag from the High Line Canal Conservancy signifying the completion of the entire Canal trail.

You can also register on our Mile High Ramblers Meetup for all the segments you want to join. Signing up is required, as final logistics related to parking and gathering for each segment will be emailed or available by phone to all those who sign up. You only need to register one place, either here at Walk2Connect or at Meetup. Each segment is limited to 25 walkers!
